Will & Lauren Pre-wedding Shoot …. oh so much fun!

At the weekend I met up with Lauren & Will who are getting married this May. I picked them up and we took a drive out to their wedding venue, we had a peek around and together imagined how great their day was going to be. Then we headed off to Southwell, and went to a cute little cafe (you know the one, you step straight off from the street through a door that was built for tiny people and you have to watch you don’t bang your head inside), over latte and tea we talked about their wedding day plans so far.

We then walked over to Southwell Minster to get them used to how I work with my camera and to get an image to create their signature board. We took some shots around the minister then found a cosy tree that just looked like it grew it’s branches to purposefully create an arm chair, so with a little support from Will, Lauren was up there for some more shots!

Lauren & Will, thank you for a fabulous afternoon, we are really looking forward to being with you on your wedding day and capturing those memories for you. Becky & Neil xx

Nottingham Wedding Photographers – Bake with Becky!

OK, I thought I’d share with you one of my recipes, you’ll be thankful that this is no ordinary cooking as that would just be cruel …. and burnt!  No, it got me thinking the other day about the emotion that goes through a wedding process and not only how we cook our images but how we mix in lots of different things to not only provide you with the end result (your images/album) but to create the experience leading up to, during and after your wedding day.  So here it goes, this is what I believe makes for a happy wedding photography experience when you book Butterworth Photography.

What you will need:

One happy couple

One or two Butterworth Photographers

Seasoning: Fun, Love, and a big splash of Happiness

(Don’t worry, Sunshine is never essential, a sprinkle of water can be added with just as beautiful results)

How to make beautiful/emotional Images:

Step 1 :  This is not always needed but adds to the experience.  Take the engaged couple on a pre-wedding photo shoot, start with listening to their wedding plans over coffee then shoot some fun images, ensuring they are relaxed, comfortable and connecting with you at all times.

Step 2:  During the excitement of the week leading up to the couple’s wedding day, phone to check they’re final plans, then get even more excited to be seeing them again in their wedding attire!

Step 3: On the happy couple’s wedding day, take a big spoon of love, mix it with a large splash of happiness which should then leave you with a big blob of fun.  Then transfer this blob to the camera and create wonderful images.

Step 4: Capture the joys of the day for as long as required, then leave the reception to simmer nicely to loud music.

Step 5: Decorate the images using a PC (or MAC if you prefer), then present to the happy couple.

Step 6: Then take your final creation to the table for all to enjoy.

Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Rippon!!

Yesterday we had the great pleasure in photographing the wedding of Helen and Glen at Woodborough Hall, with the company of Tillyboo Events who co-ordinated the day amazingly. Together Neil and I were there to meet Glen and his brothers before the ceremony, taking in what truly felt to be the first day of Spring. With snowdrops out on the lawn and the sun bursting through the clouds, it was a magical March day to have chosen to marry. Helen arrived looking amazing and I’m still remembering her smiles as she and Glen met once again in front of the registrar.

After the ceremony they went for a drive alone with a good glass of Moet, and then returned to drinks on the lawn with their guests. Best Man Mark, provided some amusing tales during his speech, which saw one of the guests winning the sweepstake prize for the total time of speeches. (Nice touch I thought!).

We finished with some evening shots on the lawn, then warmed the dance floor up with the first dance.

Glen and Helen, we wish you every happiness for the future. We’ve enjoyed every moment of getting to know you and every second of capturing your day. Our very best wishes for now and your future journey together as Mr & Mrs Rippon.

Valentine Weekend Shoot with Nora & Jim

Last month we had a competition on our Facebook site to win a complimentary Valentine photo shoot. Nora and Jim from London were our fabulous lucky couple and I spent the morning with them at Wollaton Park, on what was a sunny winter’s Valentine weekend.

Here’s a few images from their shoot, you can follow us on Facebook by visiting us here: Nottingham Wedding Photographer & Lifestyle Photography

Pre-wedding shoot on Valentine's day

On Valentine’s day I met with Helen and Glen at Wollaton Park to chat more about their wedding day plans for this March at Woodborough Hall. I then took some pre-wed shots of them around the grounds and we all got to know each other better before their day! Helen and Glen have been together for 12 years and the connection between them was fabulous, lots of smiles and special glances, a beautiful match! Helen and Glen we are really excited about your wedding day, I’m looking forward to lots more smiles and a basket full of happy emotions. xx

A wonderful weekend (Part 1) ….

At the beginning of the month we spent the weekend in York and had a REAL BLAST!! It was a great weekend, whereby fellow photographers/friends all met, socialised and hired a bunch of models and makeup artists to have fun with photography. This is a great way for us to develop and explore our style, so I’m going to share some images from the shoot over the next few weeks.

A great day out at ….

Pride Park wedding fayre yesterday!!! We met lots of brides/grooms-to-be who are all either ticking their way through their wedding planning list or just at the start of the exciting adventure of planning their wedding. Thank you to all that came to visit our stand is was lovely to chat to you all, we’re very excited about hearing more about your plans very soon!

We also met some other fabulous wedding service providers which I’d just like to give a mention to as I think what they have to offer is fantastic and they’re lovely people to have involved in your wedding. I was wowed by the beautiful stationary of Figtree Creative, together Rachel and her husband create stunning stationery that looks professional and so very elegant.

It was a pleasure also to get to know and listen to the music of Paul Martyn, he’s got some great vocals and he plays the sax beautifully too. It’s always a joy to work alongside some great music so thanks Paul!

An injection of Inspiration!!

Its been a while since I attended, but I often think about those exciting days I spent in London at the start of October training with Yervant, and a room of like minded soles all eager to learn off this inspirational master. Yervant was on his world tour from Australia spreading his knowledge and passion and to compare my excitement when I walked into the room that first day, I’d say it was like being 16 again and having back stage passes to Take That!

It was fabulous to spend 3 whole days shooting, editing and learning in our capital city. Here’s a few from my experience!
