Erin and Peter Wedding at Shottle Hall

Erin and Peter Wedding at Shottle Hall included a fabulous sunny warm wedding ceremony at St Peter’s Church Belper then followed by a wonderful reception at Shottle Hall.

It’s been a long time coming as I write the blog post for Erin and Peter wedding, I was certainly honored to be apart of this emotional and enjoyable day.

I very much love my job and it’s espcially when I get to meet such a fabulous couple as Erin and Peter that I enjoy it at it’s best.  We’ve had fun from the start which included their  Engagement in snowy hills of Dovedale in May of this year,  I knew there wedding was going to be a special one too.

Everyone was relaxed on the morning of the wedding day with Erin’s family all sat around the garden table in the warm sun shining pretty much the same weather as the day of the engagement shoot but this time without the snow a few days before.

As all the family started to get ready the excitement levels started to rise especially when friend Simon arrived in the Bentley to chauffeur the bridesmaid, mum and children to church.

On his return I set off for the church, once there I made my way to the front to get in to position where I saw the biggest smile on Peter’s face as he knew Erin was waiting to walk down the aisle.

After a great ceremony and confetti had been thrown it was off to Shottle Hall where the reception continued with the  theme of being relaxed,  the reception room was filled with a fabulous pink and black theme which looked modern, stylish and blended well.

The speeches were very emotional and all spoken from the heart which had both Erin and Pete in tears at some point. The emotion didn’t stop as Pete later sang to Erin “this is my song” Peter sang very well as Erin (bless her) cried again.

I loved being part of Erin and Pete’ Wedding day and wish them all the best for the future Neil & Becky x

Rosie & Garys Nottinghamshire Engagement Shoot

We’ve recently captured the Nottinghamshire wedding day of Rosie & Gary.  We’ll be sharing that very soon, so in the meantime here’s their Nottinghamshire Engagement Shoot.

It was a nice sunny afternoon when I joined Rosie and Gary for their Nottinghamshire Engagement Shoot.  We met at Rosie’s parents house, which was just a stones throw from the village church and field to locate their marquee on their wedding day.  We first chatted about the final details of their day and I started to get a real feel for the style of their special day.

After we explored the village, taking photographs as they talked and giggled and then popped over to see the location for their marquee for the celebrations.

It’s a real pleasure for us to get to enjoy visiting some of the rural parts of Nottingham and capture some very happy memories there.

Look forward to sharing the images from their wedding day with you soon, Neil.

Butterworth Photography Signature Image Emotion

Butterworth Photography Signature Image Emotion

This week’s image sees the start of our new signature images  section of our blog, our aim is to write about one image captured by Neil or Becky from every wedding, lifestyle or other commissions.

We always have a personal favourite image from each wedding and/or photography session so we would like to share with our readers the story behind the image, what inspired us to capture the image and for all those budding photographers out there what camera setting and post production processing was done to the image.

The Emotion

Story Telling and Inspiration:

This wedding image was captured recently at the wedding of Michelle and David at the Good Shepherd Church, as Michelle the bride walks down the aisle her eyes fill with tears as the emotion spills on to the faces of Bride and the mother of the bride. If you look into the background into the shallow depth of field you can see all the bridesmaids smiling. The Inspiration behind me capturing this moment is the image tells the story and the photograph has become a timeless and special moment captured in time forever. Timing and good observational skills where needed to capture this image. Being a documentary wedding photographer is great when capturing images like this.

For The Photographers:

Church location during ceremony using natural light shooting between the minster and his assistant.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II – Camera

f 2.8 – on a EF70-200mm F2.8L IS USM Len

1/30 – shutter speed

1000 – ISO

Post Production:

My post production on this image is kept simple, sharpen as I personally like, a little lightening on the faces and converted to black and white.

Andy and Alex Wedding at Norwood Park

Andy and Alex had a stunning Summer wedding at Norwood Park, for the first time in weeks the grey clouds had shifted and the sun shone.

It was Autumn last year when Andy and Alex booked us as their Nottingham wedding photographers for their wedding at Norwood Park.  I met most of Alex’s immediate family I think that day as they browsed my stand and chatted, well giggled about the forthcoming wedding day.  I warmed immediately to them all and have looked forward to their wedding day ever since, it was great for us to meet up to sometime before their wedding day for Andy and Alex’s Newstead Abbey engagement photo shoot.

Neil dropped me off that morning at Alex’s parents house, he then traveled the stone’s throw distance over to Andy’s parents home. These childhood sweethearts had dated since they were 15 and now after many years together were back in their home town celebrating their wedding day.  I was greeted by lots of laughter and a very happy and relaxed atmosphere, there was even time for Alex to enjoy a couple of wheet-abix to set her up for the day, with a glass of bubbly on the side.  I was excited to be joining Alex’s mum and bridesmaids (her sisters) on the big red London bus that had parked up just outside the house, it was fun to travel around the residential streets of Gedling as passers by did a double take as they mowed their lawns.

I was delighted when the vicar gave me a perfect spot at the front of the church to capture the raw emotion displayed by everyone, as the entrance music started Andrew gave the look of ‘here we go!’ and Alex who had been a beautiful bubble of excitement that morning suddenly become overcome with emotion upon seeing Andy.  This then I think dominoed onto dad, who then was teary through the start of the ceremony.  It was perfect, that’s all I can say … a truly perfect perfect ceremony.

After the ceremony Alex and Andy led everyone out into the sunshine, after weeks of rain, I think everyone’s bones felt alive with the sun, the warmth and dry air was giving everyone an extra buzz for the celebrations.  After a shower of confetti it was all aboard the big red bus for the celebrations of the wedding at Norwood Park.

Upon arriving at Norwood Park, we captured some of our signature images and a few group photographs.  We then enjoyed the laughs and a few little tears at the speeches in the beautifully decorated reception room. Then later the evening included music with a band and we all headed out to the back of Norwood for Fireworks before leaving Andy and Alex to dance the night away.

Andy and Alex, we’ve come away with very fond memories of your wedding day and of you and our families.  It has been the biggest pleasure to be a part of your day and to capture these wonderful moments for you to cherish.  We wish you endless happiness, Neil and Becky xx
