Nottingham Wedding Photography in Hoveringham

Just finding time to sit down and catch up with some blogging, so we’ll be posting some more wonderful weddings from 2011.  It was back at the start of Autumn last year that Richard and Laura got married.  They chose us as their Nottingham wedding photographers after seeing us at a friend’s wedding in 2009 and they’d kept our details ever since.

The morning started at Laura’s parents house with the girls, they’d returned from the hairdressers and with the help of bridesmaid Gemma were having make up done.  Just a stone’s throw away down the road was the church, where the guys were arriving and Neil was photographing them and the early guests.  Although just a very short drive Laura arrived thankfully as the rain paused for a little while and then made a wonderful walk down the aisle.

Whilst Laura and Richard exchanged their vows, the rain went from pause to play and pattered down heavy against the old church roof.  As I watched from the front I could see heads tilt upwards and silent thoughts of ‘listen to that!’ again as if by magic as the church doors opened the rain paused once more and then after a few more threats it stopped.

It was a little longer drive from the church to Hoveringham village for the reception, first of all with a stop off by the river.  as we followed the bridal car the London bus took the guests, with folk enjoying being upstairs looking out of the front window as if on their first ever school trip.

Once we’d arrived in the village we took a stroll with Laura and Richard who’d made prior arrangement to go into the grounds of one of the residents beautiful gardens for some more photographs.  We then went inside the village hall and Neil disappeared to take photographs of the reception room and cake, whilst I took documentary style photographs of the guests.  On Neil’s return his word’s were ‘wow, it’s amazing in there’.  What was a village hall by day had been transformed into a beautiful reception room, Laura’s aunty who’s a florist had created the most wonderful tall floral centrepieces which along with the creative table decorations and fresh linen produced a real wow factor.

Outside the hall was a team working hard cooking crispy crackling pork, to be served by nominated chefs at each table.  With a presentation box filled with apron and chefs hat, the job of head of table was not taken lightly, yet was great fun for the guests.

After dinner the room was cleared and the ceilidh band started, there were very few shy to try the dancing and when we left the room was literally in full swing.

Laura and Richard, your excitement about your wedding day is one that I shall always remember.  It was an excitement not only for this special day but for the thought of being married to each other forever.  We hope you had the most amazing adventure travelling in Australia and we wish you all the happiness together in your new home.  Neil & Becky xx

Worksop Nottinghamshire Wedding Photography

It was the last wedding of 2011 that we captured and it was bursting with some wonderful emotion and fun! I met Becca at a vintage wedding fair, I later met Simon and they booked us as their Nottingham wedding photographers. We’ve really enjoyed getting to know them both, their Nottingham engagement shoot at Clumber Park was so much fun!

Rebecca and Simon’s wedding day began for us as I joined Becca in the suite of their wedding venue, Clumber Park Hotel.  Becca was really chilled, calm but so very very excited! Her dress hung on the four poster, the detail of it was wonderful and with her gorgeous head-piece I could see how perfectly ‘Becca’ it all was.  Another special item for her was a stunning blue garter made by a dear friend for her, it was the prettiest garter I’ve ever seen …… and I’ve seen a few!  We both giggled whilst she was showing me the garter at how fabulous it is to have fiends ‘who can craft!’.

At various stages we popped downstairs and Becca showed me all the details, the wood cut snowflakes on the chair cover sashes, the hand cut reindeer table plan, the pine cones that she’d been collecting off trees in her garden and many other wonderful details. Becca made sure everything was ‘just right’ as she saw her vision come to fruition.  Meanwhile Neil had joined Simon and the guys, including Becca & Simon’s little boy.

Becca’s mum helped her get in to her dress and a special moment was seeing dad tieing the bow on the back.  It all then was a little emotional as the bridesmaids arrived back in the suite and everyone looked proudly on to Becca.

As it was time to walk down the aisle the ceremony room was lit by lanterns, and as Becca and Simon we’re back together again they cried and they laughed and then they cried some more at the personal readings by friends and family.

After Simon and Becca joined to become Mr & Mrs Sargison-Bowler, everyone headed for a celebratory drink! Santa made a quick appearance to give presents for the children and older boys!

The speeches after dinner once again bought lots of happy emotional moments and a lot of laughter from the years in photographs. Then followed the sweetie bar and first dance, which was a real treat, starting with a little traditional moves then breaking into a medley of songs which brought true entertainment to the dance floor.  It was the real finale for us of our year of 2011 weddings, so fun to watch and capture through our lens.

Becca and Simon, what a beautiful family you have, you are true soul mates and it has been a total pleasure to get to know you both and capture this very happy journey of your marriage.  May you keep making each other smile and creating that odd tear or two of happiness.

If you’ve recently got engagement and are planning your wedding, or would like more information on wedding photography at Clumber Park Hotel, please get in touch ….. we’d love to hear from you.

Nottingham Wedding Photographers 2011

WOW, what can we say, its goodbye 2011 and hello 2012.  What an AMAZING year it has been for us, we’ve seen and captured 39 wonderful couples getting married, followed them on their fabulous journey and felt touched by each individual wedding.

As Nottingham wedding photographers we’ve photographed many of these weddings here, with lots also in Derby and travelled a little further for a scorching hot day on the Scarborough sea front and then south to a lush Kent vineyard.

So here is a little look back on 2011 with an image from each of these magical days, we look back with fond memories on each one and wish all of our newly married couples a very, very happy 2012.

From time to time our couples sometimes prefer to keep their wedding images private to them and their family, so we’ve included a little detail shot from their wedding.

Priest House Hotel Wedding Photographers

The beautiful Autumn wedding of Leanne and Michael took place at The Priest House Hotel, nestled by the river Trent in its quiet secluded land in Derbyshire. We were chosen as their Derby wedding photographers right at the beginning of 2011 and it’s been really lovely getting to know Leanne & Michael, especially during their engagement shoot at Hardwick Hall.

I joined Leanne and the girls while they were getting ready up on the top floor of the Priest House, it was a real hive of activity as the room was buzzing with Leanne’s relatives who’d made the trip from the North of the UK. Meanwhile Neil met with Michael and the guys as they made their final preparations before heading to the ceremony room.

It appeared a really thoughtful moment for Leanne and her dad as they made the walk from her suite, down the double staircase and into the ceremony room. Using our documentary wedding photography style we captured this journey and the ceremony that was watched by some very proud family members.

After we spilled outside for a few photographs, everyone relaxed to the voice of Jason Hart as they chatted and tucked in to canapes.  Tillyboo events had behind the scenes styled and created a beautiful autumnal reception room for Leanne and Michael, it was the perfect touch of colour for the time of year, brought to life by the twinkly lights!

Once dinner was over, it was downstairs for the evening reception and party, where Jason was ready to start the night off with a few sets!  After capturing a few dances we left everyone to carry on enjoying what had been a perfect day.

Leanne & Michael, congratulations, what a wonderful wedding day, we wish you all the very happiness together on your wonderful journey together as Mr & Mrs Pitman.

2012 Wedding Industry Awards – Client Feedback

Wow what a couple of weeks, November has flown by, and during this time we were shortlisted for the Region in the 2012 Wedding Industry Awards! The judging panel didn’t pick us as their region finalist but in no way have we been disheartened or disappointed ……. as our client feedback was so wonderful to see!   Within the photography category we were up against many entrants for the East Midlands and it was what our client’s had noted that got us shortlisted.

As part of the awards voting system we’ve been able to view the comments that our clients left. This has been firstly, brilliant for us in that it’s been a review of how we’ve been working over the last year or so, collating valuable feedback. Secondly, it’s been quite overwhelming, I read the comments with a fluttery heart and a little glint of a tear. Excitely I’d read to Neil aloud some comments and we’d smile together. It was very special to read.

So here we are, I’ve copied and pasted all the feedback. Thank you to everyone that took the time to vote, your time and special comments are very very appreciated.

General Comments (in random order)

“Becky was brilliant from the outset. She understood exactly what we wanted on our special day. We had loads of lovely photographs to choose from as she really used our venue to create the best shots. The album we have is beautiful. We were really happy with the service we got and would recommend Butterworth Photography to anyone.”

“I have already recommended Butterworth Photography to a number of couples who are getting married in 2012 and will continue to do so as both their service and product is fantastic. Both Becky and Neil are lovely people who were very flexible and warm/friendly in their approach, they listened to what we wanted and tailored their service accordingly. We couldn’t have been happier with both our pre-wedding shoot and wedding day photography. The package they offered was also great value for money and they made us feel and ease and relaxed in front of the camera.”

“We were so happy we chose Butterworth photography for our big day! Becky captured so many beautiful images and memories which we will treasure forever. Becky was friendly, professional and accommodating throughout the whole process. She blended into the day and most guests didn’t even know she was there. She made us feel so relaxed on the day and made the day even more special. Thank you Becky for our beautiful photos.”

“Shots were awesome, captured every part of our day and created many happy memories”

“We didn’t know Butterworth Photography before we initially enquired about them and being one of the first of our group of friends to get married, we didn’t have any friends who had used them. From the moment Becky first emailed me back, I was sure we would get on, after the initial meeting my husband and I made the decision, we didn’t need to see any other photographers, the end product was exactly what we were looking for and Becky was so Lovely, accommodating and flexible. By our wedding day we felt like we’d known them ages, we’d only met twice. Your photographer is such a huge part of your day and having Becky and Neil there was as if we had two friends capturing our day. They also understand the anticipation and in patience of newlyweds wanting to get a sneak at the images as soon as there done, Becky blogged some of our images the day after our wedding which was incredible, just to see a select few. Soon after we returned from Honeymoon, we had our images available and the service was so quick and friendly. We had a pre-wedding shoot with Becky and we choose an image from there to be mounted on a signature board and another image for our business cards which detailed to our guests how to access the online gallery. All of which Butterworth Photography organised, designed and printed and bought with them on the day! Great value for money for this great service, Becky & Neil go over and above their duties on a wedding day.”

“A superlative service for the whole duration of the process, excelling our expectations at every turn. They captured memories on camera in way that truly reflected the beauty of the setting and presented an opportunity for any one seeing the photos to marvel at their grandeur and spectacle and for us to reminisce on that magical day. It was the first ‘international’ wedding Butterworth Photography had undertaken, and they handled it with consummate ease, and became one of the wedding party in the process. I don’t think a life time will supply enough time to say thank you again and again!”

“Totally professional from a very warm, personal & sensitive angle. The Butterworth team, led by Becky were on the ball from beginning to end, knowing their field helped us to organise & prepare our day. Even on the day, they seemed to nudge us seamlessly into each moment, capturing our day beautifully but without us even being aware that they were there.”

“They made me / us feel at ease right from the start. friendly without being too friendly. By the time the wedding came they felt like family friends”

“Overall we were extremely pleased with Butterworth, and would def recommend them. Haven’t given 10 in every category as it gives them something to perfect (but they are not far off, hence the very high scores).”

“A great friendly family run business that makes you feel at ease in their company.”

“we were very happy with the pictures and I don’t know how we would have ever left the hotel had it not been for Becky gently ushering me and my Dad towards the wedding. we were frozen with nervous excitement and she was a very calming presence.”

“We chose Butterworth Photography because we immediately felt at home with Becky and Neil. I have just received the proofs of our wedding photos and they are so beautiful. I am so so pleased that we picked them and would recommend them to anybody who wants professional yet friendly wedding photographers.”

“Becky and Neil were amazing both in the lead up to and on our wedding day. Nothing was ever too much trouble – we even bought our St Bernard along to the engagement shoot! Most of the time I didn’t even notice they were taking pictures at the church and venue but they managed to capture all of the fleeting moments that made our day what it was and we have a brilliant wedding album full of fabulous pictures to treasure!”

“Neil and Becky have been absolutely fantastic ever since we first met lending their suggestions and advice and not just with the photography itself. Their experience helped us to plan our timings for the day and give us some much needed peace of mind that the day would run smoothly which it did!!! Both Laura and I are not particularly keen on having our photo’s taken but Neil and Becky make you feel instantly at ease and are incredibly discrete and our photos from the day are absolutely amazing because of it! We are so glad to have been lucky enough to have had Butterworth photography as our wedding photographers they captured our memories of the day perfectly and we will recommend them to everyone we speak to.”

“Both Rebecca and Wayne were so organised and friendly and all the guests involved in the photos commented how brilliant they were”

“Becky Butterworth came to visit us at home which was great, we discussed what we wanted and was more than happy with the package she offered. As soon as we seen their work, we instantly knew we wanted them to capture our day. The level of service from start to finish was perfect! From our pre wedding shoot right up to now, Becky is in touch and on hand whenever we have a question. Their documentary style meant that we could enjoy our special day with each other, family and guests alike, almost forgetting that the photographers were there. My partner and I are not ones for ‘posing’ but they made us feel so relaxed and comfortable. They truly have an eye for creativity and we are so pleased with our wedding photos. ‘A picture paints a 1000 words’..and that is exactly what we have got, a story of our wedding day from the morning preparations right through to the evening celebrations. I would not hesitate to recommend.”

“The most beautiful photos I have ever seen.”

“When I first met Becky we hit it off straight away which put us both at ease (my partner and I) as we both dislike the thought of being the centre of attention and having our photograph taken. Becky is extremely talented and we soon arranged a pre wedding photo shoot for our family in order for her to see what we were comfortable with – the pre wedding photos were absolutely fabulous – hence we had two digital frames showing them throughout our reception. Having seen these I didn’t think any other photos would better them but our wedding photos are out of this world – I wouldn’t have any hesitation in recommending Butterworth Photography and have done so many times – they so deserve this award ten times over”

Why They Booked (in random order)

“Laura and I met them at a friend’s wedding and were incredibly impressed not only with the photos but how well organised yet discrete they were. The best photographers of any wedding we have been too!!!”

“Because they are friendly, yet professional. They made us feel so relaxed on the day and all our guests commented on how superb they were. Their portfolio of photographs are amazing and their work is a credit to them.”
“nice pictures, nice people”

“We met Becky at a Fair and clicked. She understood what we wanted and the price was right.”

“They seemed friendly when we saw them at the wedding fayre, and we felt relaxed around both photographers. Becky really seemed to care about our day going well and the photos being the best they possibly could. I was less involved with Wayne as he was with my husband, but I understand that he was fantastic”

“the best we could find in our price bracket”

“Felt really comfortable with Becky and so relaxed on the day.”

“We were extremely impressed with their portfolio of work and they were very flexible with the package they offered (at a great price too!)”

“Very personable and not at all pushy when we met them at the wedding fair.”

“We loved the images on their site & after the initial photshoot felt totally reassured that they would be professional & knew exactly how to capture our day in the best possible light.”

“Becky came to see us in Peterborough for our initial meet and we knew instantly we wanted her to be our photographer! She was friendly, professional and obviously very good at her job looking at her albums. We were impressed with the various wedding packages and value for money. We also couldn’t stop looking at her website which excited us every time:-)”

“I had a working relationship with Neil Butterworth in our previous jobs. He introduced me to their work and I decided not only was their style of shooting and results exactly what we wanted, but Neil and his wife Becky were some of the most affable people I’ve met. I never regretted the decision for one minute, and felt comfortable at every juncture of the process.”

“Friendly & helpful which makes you feel relaxed about the whole process”

“Value for money and quality of product/service”

“Initially style of photographer and end products, local business. After first meeting we booked as the style of photographer was what we required and the Albums were beautifully designed but also because Becky was lovely and we knew we would be happy with having them at our wedding.”

“The personal service, not just the photography side – although they are amazing in what they do but Becky became one of my wedding planning team and the day wouldn’t have been the same without her.”

“Becky is so friendly and open that its impossible not to warm to her and we knew as soon as we welcomed her into our home at the initial meeting that we would be booking the Butterworth’s. Their relaxed reportage style is exactly what we were looking for but we were still able to have some of the more formal family shots to keep our parents happy!”

“Liked the sample shots we viewed”
